Cafy: Technical SEO and Content for a UK AI Job Platform
Cafy helps UK job seekers find work with AI tools. We audited and fixed the search and speed issues on a JavaScript-heavy site, and built a content plan to take it beyond branded searches.
The challenge
Cafy earned plenty of clicks, but almost all of them came from people already searching for the brand. Only 12 pages were indexed, against 15 that were not, and blog articles shipped invisible until JavaScript ran, which measured an 8.3 second LCP in the lab.
The positioning also needed to change. The client told us they did not want to be seen as an app only for international students, because the product serves every UK job seeker.
What we did
Developer-ready audit
Every issue documented with how to fix it, including exact titles and descriptions, so the client's developer could ship the changes directly.
Core Web Vitals
Fixes to how the page paints and hydrates, plus consent and tag loading. The LCP element now appears in the first paint in lab tests at every screen width.
Link spam audit
A review of 710 linking domains confirmed that Google was already ignoring the spam, with no manual action and no security issue, and saved the client from chasing a score that disavowing could not change.
Content plan
Fifteen articles totalling 27,377 words, aimed at all UK job seekers and checked against GOV.UK sources, with linking and schema ready for publishing.
What the client actually got
Results by area
Organic traffic
Search Console, 30 July to 29 October 2026: 14.8K clicks, 28.6K impressions, 51.7% click-through rate. Most of this is branded search, which is exactly why the content plan targets non-branded demand next.
AI visibility
Each planned article opens with a direct answer and uses question-led sections and self-contained tables, the format AI engines quote. Wording across the site and llms.txt was corrected to the new positioning.
Branding
Positioning moved from international students to all UK job seekers, across the site and the content plan.
Inbound leads
Cafy measures sign-ups rather than enquiries. Every planned article leads to a real product feature with tracked calls to action.
Website development
The site is built by the client's developer; our part was the SEO and performance engineering. On 16 October 2026 field data showed desktop INP at 106 ms and CLS at 0.02, with LCP still improving as older data rolled off.
The outcome
Cafy has a cleaner technical base, a clear position and a plan to win searches from people who have not heard of it yet.
Where these numbers come from: Search data from the client's Google Search Console, last three months to 29 October 2026. Real-user speed data from PageSpeed Insights, 16 October 2026. The 15-article package was delivered on 30 October 2026 and is scheduled to publish from November.

Questions about this project
Did VTurnU build the Cafy website?
No. Cafy's own developer builds the site. VTurnU provided the SEO audit, performance fixes and content plan, and the developer shipped them.
Why is the click-through rate so high?
Most clicks come from people searching for Cafy by name, and branded searches naturally have very high click-through rates.
Would disavowing spam links have helped?
No. Google was already ignoring them, and Moz Spam Score is calculated from signals on your own site, not from who links to you.
